Personally, I just don’t feel like I was warned enough about the college struggle. I was aware of the benefits, scholarships, opportunities, degrees, and etc. BUT, I was not ready. I’ve been in college for a little over 2 years, and each semester is different. Let me be the one to warn you that college can be crucial, but it is an amazing opportunity to succeed and excel. So, during those moments of wanting to give up, here are some tips to push you to KEEP GOING!
PRAYER - I would not be where I am in my collegiate career if it wasn’t for prayer. There will be moments where this is the ONLY thing that will keep you. God hears you! This has kept me from going crazy, and giving up!
Self-care/Rest - It is imperative that you allow time into your schedule for this. You will burn yourself out if you do not REST. Self-care is so important to your journey. Take a break, do you what you love, put your books down, and recharge.
Accountability - If I didn’t have people in my corner encouraging me, I would have a quit long ago. Thankfully, I have an amazing circle of people who allow me to vent, cry, and fuss, but gracefully loves me back into place. You need those to remind of you of your “why”. You need accountability! Don’t have any? I got you, just contact me, and I will be that for you.
Confession/ Positive words - I have been that college student that said ”I’m gonna fail this class”, “I’m gonna quit”, “I can’t do this.” Let me say this: Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) We have got to watch our words! We have got to speak positive! Every more actually, I send out confessions for the day. If you’re interested, email me - firstname.lastname@example.org
These are just four motivational tips to keep me going! I hope it can help you as well!
